Why is this project happening?
  • Infrastructure Restructure will provide improvements to aging sewage infrastructure.
  • The project will create a more efficient system by increasing the sewage collection system’s capacity and increasing sewage flow to the Red Cedar Interceptor and Water Resource Recovery Facility for treatment, while decreasing flow to the Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Retention Treatment Basin (RTB).
  • These improvements are expected to reduce the potential for treated CSO overflows from the RTB into the Red Cedar River.
  • It will also separate some stormwater flow by routing it directly to the Red Cedar River.
