EAST LANSING, Mich. — Community members are advised that westbound Michigan Avenue will be closed to traffic at Harrison Road this weekend to accommodate work associated with the ongoing Infrastructure Restructure project.
The closure will be implemented at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 21 and the roadway will re-open to traffic on the evening of Sunday, June 23. Advanced signage will be in place to guide motorists along the detour route. View the detour route for westbound Michigan Avenue and northbound Harrison Road traffic here.
Eastbound Michigan Avenue will remain open through the intersection and southbound Harrison Road traffic will still be able to use the median crossover on Michigan Avenue to continue southbound. Northbound Harrison Road traffic will be able to access eastbound Michigan Avenue; however, the median crossover to access westbound Michigan Avenue will be closed.
Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center traffic can still use eastbound Michigan Avenue or Kalamazoo Street to access Harrison Road. Motorists leaving Kellogg can access US-127 by heading south on Harrison Road to Kalamazoo Street to US-127.
The community’s patience is appreciated during this weekend’s closure. Work is progressing as scheduled at the project site and the Michigan-Harrison intersection is expected to fully re-open to northbound and southbound Harrison Road traffic by July 3 (weather permitting).
