EAST LANSING, Mich. – Motorists are advised that there will be lane closures in the East Lansing community over the coming weeks for the resurfacing of four local and major streets. The areas scheduled to be resurfaced include:
- Burcham Drive (east of Timberlane Street and west of Whitehouse Drive)
- Timberlane Street (north of Burcham Drive)
- Marfitt Road (south of Abbey Road and north of Lake Lansing Road)
- Haslett Road (east of Saginaw Highway and west of Merritt Road)
Crews will commence work on Monday, Oct. 8 on Burcham Drive and Timberlane Street and construction will begin on Marfitt Road and Haslett Road on Friday, Oct. 12. All work is tentatively expected to be completed by Nov. 2. Lane closures are necessary, but one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction during the work. Once completed, the roadways will be fully re-opened to traffic. Resurfacing on Haslett Road will be limited to the southernmost (eastbound outside) lane only.
Each street will have the existing pavement removed by either pulverizing or milling. Subsequent construction activities will include replacement of existing utility castings, spot replacement of curb, updating of sidewalk ramps and replacement of pavement and pavement markings.
Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution when driving in these constructions areas and seek alternate routes if possible. This project is made possible by Public Act 51 funds and is being completed by C&D Hughes, Inc. Inspection will be provided by City staff. Community members with questions can contact the East Lansing Department of Public Works at (517) 337-9459.
