[ARCHIVED] Community Invited to David Roth Concert and “American Creed” Screening and Panel Discussion at ELPL

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Community members are invited to a concert featuring musician David Roth and a special screening and panel discussion of the film “American Creed” on Thursday, Sept. 20 from 6-9 p.m. at the East Lansing Public Library (ELPL), 950 Abbot Road. This special event is free and open to all.

About the Music 
Prior to the screening, attendees will be treated to a live musical performance by David Roth. Roth strikes many chords, hearts and minds with his unique songs, offbeat observations, moving stories, sense of the hilarious, powerful singing and subject matter. As a singer, songwriter, recording artist, keynote speaker, workshop leader and instructor, Roth has earned top honors at premier songwriter competitions in Kerrville, Texas and Falcon Ridge, New York and he has taken his music, experience and expertise to a wide variety of venues in this and other countries full time for three decades.

About the Film
“American Creed,” is an 82-minute documentary (not rated) from Citizen Films and PBS. “Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David M. Kennedy come together from remarkably different backgrounds, life experiences and points of view to explore the idea of a unifying American creed. Their spirited inquiry frames the stories of a range of citizen-activists striving to realize their own visions of America's promise across deep divides.The current national rollout of the documentary American Creed marks the beginning of a robust public engagement campaign including community conversations, classroom activities and local storytelling in cities and towns across the country — all designed to foster a bold national conversation about American ideals and identity.”

About the Panel
The panel discussion will immediately follow the film. Panelists will discuss the topics brought up by the documentary.
