EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing’s 2018 Major Street Project is moving along, with construction on N. Hagadorn Road wrapping up this week and work transitioning to Alton Road next week.
The paving of N. Hagadorn Road was completed yesterday and pending the completion of striping, pavement markings and restoration, the roadway is expected to fully re-open to traffic over the weekend. The contractor will then be transitioning to Alton Road, with construction expected to begin on Monday, Aug. 13 between Burcham Drive and Saginaw Street. Alton Road will be closed to through traffic (local traffic will be maintained) during this work, with related detours in place. Motorists are asked to follow the alternate routes. Access to Patriarche Park will be maintained to the extent possible; however, there will be times when traffic will need to access the park from Whitehills Drive. The Alton Road improvements are expected to be completed by early October.
More than 80 percent of the funding for these Major Road Project improvements is coming from the federal Surface Transportation Program (STP).
