EAST LANSING, Mich. — Charles Street Parking Garage exterior caulk sealant and window washing maintenance will be taking place this Friday, July 6 in downtown East Lansing. In order to accommodate the 125-foot lift, there will be lane shifts and a temporary street closure on Albert Avenue and Charles Street.
This work was scheduled for Friday as low traffic is expected in the downtown due to the 4th of July holiday. Proper barricading will be in place, along with pedestrian overhead protection. The work will proceed as follows:
- Eastbound Albert Avenue, from M.A.C. Avenue to the CVS parking lot entrance, along with the westbound left turn lane of Albert Avenue at M.A.C. Avenue, will be closed from approximately 7-11 a.m.
- Work will then move to Charles Street, which will be closed from Grand River Avenue to the Charles Street Garage exit lanes from approximately 11 a.m.-3 p.m. This will include an alley closure at Charles Street behind the Jackson Zone. Alley access will be maintained from M.A.C. Avenue. The street meters will be unavailable for use on Charles Street most of the day.
- Work will then move north on Charles Street and the two southbound lanes of Charles Street will be closed from Albert Avenue to the Charles Street Garage entrance. This portion of the work should take place from approximately 3-5 p.m.
