EAST LANSING, Mich. – In an effort to encourage safe rides home on Saint Patrick’s Day, the City of East Lansing’s Parking Division has partnered with the East Lansing Downtown Management Board (DMB) to provide free overnight parking at specific locations in downtown East Lansing.
Free parking will be available at four locations in the downtown beginning Saturday, March 17 at 10 p.m. through Monday, March 19 at 2 a.m. The locations include:
- Evergreen Avenue Parking Lot, 275 Evergreen Ave. (behind Peoples Church)
Meters Only; Entrance on Evergreen Avenue
- Dublin Square Lot, 311 Albert Ave.
Entrance on Albert Avenue
- East Lansing City Hall’s West Lot, 415 Abbot Road
Public parking spaces only; Entrance on west side of Abbot Road
- Bailey Street Parking Garage, 126 Bailey St.
Public parking spaces only; Entrance on east side of Bailey Street, between Grand River Avenue and Albert Avenue
Please note that parking throughout the downtown is free on Sundays. View a map of the downtown parking locations that will be free overnight on Saint Patrick's Day.
“We encourage those who are celebrating on Saint Patrick’s Day to celebrate responsibly and find a safe ride home,” said East Lansing Community Development & Engagement Manager Amy Schlusler-Schmitt.
In addition to the free overnight parking in downtown, CATA is offering free Entertainment Express trolley rides on Saint Patrick’s Day from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m. The trolley travels between Lansing and East Lansing every 15 minutes, serving designated stops along the Michigan/Grand River Avenue corridor. The East Lansing Police Department will have extra officers working on Saint Patrick’s Day to keep the East Lansing community safe.
