[ARCHIVED] “Remembering Martin” Exhibit to Open at the East Lansing Public Art Gallery this Sunday, March 4

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The Greater Lansing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission will open the exhibit “Remembering Martin” this Sunday, March 4 at the East Lansing Public Art Gallery, located on the second floor of the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road.

A short program with observations by the Commission will be followed by a community reception with light refreshments. All community members are welcome to attend this special event or stop by to see the exhibit during gallery hours:


  • Monday-Friday, 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Saturday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Sunday, noon-6 p.m.


The exhibit will run from March 4-May 1 and it is free and open to the public. For more information about the gallery, contact Yvette Robinson at gyvette22@gmail.com or (517) 894-2166.

About the Exhibit
As part of the Commission’s commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a compilation of photographs, prints and writings of Dr. King will be on display. The exhibit will also include historical documents from the Commission.


In addition to the exhibit, the Commission will honor the anniversary of Dr. King’s assassination with a Bell Ringing Program on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 5:45 p.m. on the steps of the Michigan State Capitol.
