EAST LANSING, Mich. – The second phase of the construction project adjacent to East Lansing City Hall is slated to begin on Wednesday, July 5.
The second phase of the project is anticipated to take approximately four weeks to complete and will include removing and replacing concrete curbs and walkways along the west and north sides of City Hall, removing a parking island and installing additional handicap spaces in the north parking lot and reconstructing the exit from the north parking lot onto Park Lane to allow for two-way traffic.
During the second phase of construction, City Hall’s north parking lot will be closed and all public parking will be moved to the lot east of City Hall. Signs will be in place to direct traffic. The main entrance (northwest) to City Hall and the sidewalk adjacent to that entrance will also be closed. Visitors can access the building at the south entrances (54B District Court and East Lansing Police Department entrances).

About the Project
The East Lansing City Hall construction project began on Wednesday, June 7 and is anticipated to take eight to 10 weeks to complete. It is being staged in three phases to ensure uninterrupted visitor access to East Lansing City Hall. The project will include removing and replacing a large portion of the sidewalks around City Hall, improvements to the north and east parking lots, enhancements to pedestrian and vehicular traffic patterns and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) improvements.
In order to accommodate the work, it will be necessary to close different entrances to City Hall and make temporary adjustments to vehicle and pedestrian traffic flow. Regular updates will be provided as the project progresses.
