LANSING, MI -- Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and East Lansing Mayor Mark Meadows are proud to announce the 2017 Mayors’ Ramadan Unity Dinner, to be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing. This year marks the 11th year of the Mayors’ Ramadan Unity Dinner, which is hosted by the two mayors in partnership with the Muslim community.
With a theme of “United in Strength – Solidarity against Hunger,” the Mayors’ Ramadan Unity Dinner is about embracing our differences, demonstrating the importance of diversity and unity within our region and helping feed those that experience hunger. Ramadan is a time of reflection, where many Muslim community members seek to support and volunteer for local charities and give back to their community. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Greater Lansing Food Bank. Ticket, sponsorship and advertisement information can be found at www.lansingmi.gov/ramadanunitydinner.
This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Debbie Almontaser, CEO and Founder of Bridging Cultures Group, Inc. of New York City. Dr. Almontaser’s life’s work has been dedicated to and motivated by bridging cultures and people through education, presentation and activism.
