EAST LANSING, Mich. – The East Lansing Basketball Club’s “Let the Tradition Continue” Committee recently made a generous $6,250 donation to the City of East Lansing’s Middle School Interscholastic Sports Program. This recent donation continues the club’s financial support of the program, which dates back to the 2013/2014 academic year.
Of the funds donated, $5,000 will be used to maintain already reduced registrants’ fees for the following sports: cross country (boys and girls), girls volleyball, basketball (boys and girls) and track & field (boys and girls). The remaining $1,250 will be used for program scholarships. At least 50 percent of the scholarship funds will be awarded for girls and boys basketball and the remaining funds will be used for cross country, volleyball and track & field.
The mission of the East Lansing Basketball Club is to foster, encourage and promote the playing of the sport of basketball for children, families and residents of the East Lansing School District. The club’s recent donation to the Middle School Interscholastic Sports Program helps to further that mission.
“We would like to thank the East Lansing Basketball Club and the ‘Let the Tradition Continue’ Committee for this very generous donation,” said East Lansing Parks, Recreation & Arts Director Tim McCaffrey. “We appreciate the support of this local nonprofit in encouraging more middle school students to participate in sports.”
