EAST LANSING, Mich. – The East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) will be holding a community forum on police relations on Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 6-9 p.m. in the East Lansing Hannah Community Center’s Albert A. White Performing Arts Theater, 819 Abbot Road.
The purpose of the forum is to present the priorities of ELPD to multiple East Lansing community groups and organizations and have an open and honest panel discussion pertaining to the community’s perception of ELPD.
In light of national events, police shootings and community protests that have occurred around the country, ELPD recognizes the importance of reaching out and engaging with the community it serves. ELPD is holding this community forum in an effort to assess what practices are working and which ones need to be looked at with regard to providing quality services to all community members and stakeholders in East Lansing. Information from the community forum will be used to address training, procedures and policy, if necessary. The forum will also serve as another step toward maintaining and building a working partnership between East Lansing community members and their police department.
Community members with questions or concerns can contact ELPD Sgt. James Campbell at (517) 319-6947.
