EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Department of Public Works (DPW) has provided the following updates on ongoing construction for the Hazardous Sidewalk Program in the City of East Lansing:
Beginning Monday, Aug. 22, sidewalk repairs will continue along Grand River Avenue. The construction will take place along the North side of Grand River Avenue, between Evergreen Avenue and Hillcrest Avenue. The work is expected to last approximately a week depending on weather conditions.
During various stages of this work, westbound Albert Avenue between Evergreen Avenue and Hillcrest Avenue will be shifted into the center lane. Signage will be in place directing vehicles through the construction. Pedestrian detours will be in place to direct foot traffic around the construction area.
In addition, North Harrison Road will be open today, but motorists should expect crews with the Lansing Board of Water and Light to be in the roadway as they continue to replace street light wiring and related street light posts that are in need of replacing. All disturbed areas as a result of this work will be addressed by the Lansing Board of Water and Light and could take several more weeks.
These improvements are part of an ongoing program to improve pedestrian access and safety throughout the City. While this construction work is inconvenient and disruptive to normal routines, DPW greatly appreciates the community’s cooperation and understanding as they move forward with efforts to improve sidewalks in the City’s neighborhoods.
