[ARCHIVED] Moonlight Film Festival Wraps Up this Week with Two Back-to-Back Events

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing’s 2016 Moonlight Film Festival will wrap up with two back-to-back events this week on Wednesday, Aug. 10 and Thursday, Aug. 11.

The Moonlight Film Festival features movies shown on a big outdoor screen on Thursday nights* in July (9:30 p.m.) and August (9 p.m.) in Valley Court Park, 280 Valley Court. New this year, there are activities prior to showtimes that tie into the themes of the movies.

Wednesday, Aug. 10 – Pop-Up Stories & “Where the Wild Things Are”
On Wednesday, Aug. 10, the Moonlight Film Festival will feature “Where the Wild Things Are,” rated PG, at 9 p.m. *This is a special rescheduled event. Please note it is taking place on a Wednesday.

Prior to the film, at 7 p.m. in the same location, community members can enjoy and/or participate in Pop-Up Stories - a mobile storytelling project from WKAR Current State, the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities at Michigan State University and community partners. The theme is “The Call of the Wild” and community members are invited to come tell their stories of outdoor adventure, exploring new territories, mishaps with Mother Nature and lessons learned along the way. Thursday, Aug. 11 – Pet Parade & “Babe”
On Thursday, Aug. 11, the Moonlight Film Festival will feature “Babe,” rated G, at 9 p.m. Prior to the film, at 7 p.m. in the same location, community members are invited to come show off their furry friends in the park. There will be stations set up, including a water station, a trick station, a treat station and more. Pets dressed
up in costumes are encouraged.
