EAST LANSING, Mich. — The boil water advisory for the City of East Lansing and Meridian Township is still in effect and will remain in effect until further notice.
Initial indications show that the East Lansing Meridian Water and Sewer Authority’s (ELMWSA) water samples are negative for harmful bacteria; however, a second set of sample testing is required to confirm the initial results. Definitive results of these tests will be available in approximately 24 hours. Until the definitive results have been received, residents are asked to continue to boil their water or use bottled water for consumption. View the Boil Water Notice issued by ELMWSA yesterday for additional information: http://www.cityofeastlansing.com/DocumentCenter/View/5290.
City and Township officials understand this is an inconvenience for residents and will continue to provide regular updates as they become available. The next update is anticipated at approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7.
ELMWSA, in partnership with officials with the City of East Lansing, Meridian Township and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, are continuing to work and monitor the situation. Officials from all of the agencies met in consultation on Saturday afternoon to provide this latest update.
