[ARCHIVED] City of East Lansing Offers Action-Packed Week of Events

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Community members can enjoy an action-packed lineup of events the week of July 25 as part of the City of East Lansing’s ongoing Community Events program. All events are FREE!

Play in the Park – Sports Science
Play in the Park, an interactive children’s entertainment series, is hosted on Tuesdays in July at 7 p.m. in Valley Court Park, 280 Valley Court. On Tuesday, July 26, there will be a Sports Science program featuring Dynamic School Assemblies. Young participants will discover the science behind sports and the benefits of being active. Moonlight Film Festival – Pop-Up Stories & “Where the Wild Things Are”
The Moonlight Film Festival features movies shown on a big outdoor screen on Thursday nights in July (9:30 p.m.) and August (9 p.m.) in Valley Court Park, 280 Valley Court. New this year, there are activities prior to showtimes that tie into the themes of the movies. On Thursday, July 28, the Moonlight Film Festival will feature “Where the Wild Things Are,” rated PG, at 9:30 p.m. Learn more about the Moonlight Film Festival at http://www.cityofeastlansing.com/moonlightfilmfestival.

Prior to the film, at 7 p.m. in the same location, community members can enjoy and/or participate in Pop-Up Stories - a mobile storytelling project from WKAR Current State, the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities at Michigan State University and community partners. The theme is “The Call of the Wild” and community members are invited to come tell their stories of outdoor adventure, exploring new territories, mishaps with Mother Nature and the lessons learned along the way. Summer Concert Series – Xavier Davis & the X-Factor, Dragspel
The East Lansing Summer Concert Series features six weekends of live music on Fridays and Saturday at 7 p.m. in downtown East Lansing’s Ann Street Plaza (corner of Albert and M.A.C. avenues). The Summer Concert Series will feature Xavier Davis & the X-Factor on Friday, July 29 and Dragspel on Saturday, July 30.
