EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing and East Lansing Film Festival invite community members to attend a Ceramics Studio Fundraiser at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC), 819 Abbot Road, on Wednesday, June 22 from 4:30-9 p.m.

All proceeds of this special event will go towards the construction of a new Ceramics Studio on the second floor of ELHCC. The new space will offer many exciting benefits for the community, including classes available for all ages, from youth to seniors; opportunities to interact with other community artists; and extended hours for programming.

The Ceramics Studio Fundraiser will kick off at 4:30 p.m. in the lobby of ELHCC’s Albert A. White Performing Arts Theatre, where children and adults can paint a pot for $10. All supplies, including aprons for budding artists, will be provided. There will also be beautiful pottery for sale, produced and donated by local artists.

At 7 p.m., there will be a viewing of the highly acclaimed foreign language film “The Second Mother” with English subtitles. Directed by Anna Muylaert, “The Second Mother” was the winner of the Special Jury Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Watch a trailer of the film here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5WzbcjBQtE. The film is rated R and has a run time of 112 minutes. Film tickets are $10 for the general public, $8 for seniors (65+) and $5 for students with IDs. Tickets will go on sale at 6 p.m. on the evening of the event.

“We hope community members will consider attending this special event in support of the new Ceramics Studio – a space that will be enjoyed by community members of all ages for years to come,” said East Lansing Recreation & Arts Coordinator Kathleen Miller.

If unable to attend the Ceramics Studio Fundraiser, community members can still support the Ceramics Studio project by sending a tax-deductible donation to:
