[ARCHIVED] Sidewalk Construction Begins Along Abbot Road Today

EAST LANSING, Mich. – As part of the City of East Lansing’s 2016 Sidewalk Maintenance Program, sidewalk construction begins today on the sidewalks adjacent to Abbot Road, from Albert Avenue to Burcham Drive. The work is expected to be completed by July 8.

Northbound and southbound traffic will be maintained throughout the duration of the project; however, there will be lane shifts in place to accommodate the work. There will also be intermittent side street, sidewalk and bike lane closures in place.

The crews will be working on the west side of Abbot Road first, from Fern Street south to Albert Avenue. Southbound traffic will be shifted to the center turn lane in this area. As such, turn movements from Abbot Road to Fern Street and Oakhill Avenue will be restricted in order to prevent traffic backups.

Motorists are asked to exercise caution when traveling through the area. Call the Department of Public Works at (517) 337-9459 with any questions.
