EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing is bringing back its popular 3rd Wednesday Open Mic series, with open mic nights planned for the third Wednesday of June, July and August from 7-9 p.m. in downtown East Lansing’s Ann Street Plaza (corner of M.A.C. and Albert avenues). The 2016 dates are June 15, July 20 and Aug. 17.
This FREE open mic series is for local musicians and music lovers alike. Performers (solo and group acts are welcomed) will have a two-song limit. Musician signup begins at 6:30 p.m. and is on a first come, first serve basis. Cords, pickups, a small PA and a mic are provided. Musicians only need to bring themselves and their instruments. All ages and skill levels are welcome.
Local musician Jen Sygit will be hosting once again this year and encourages any local musicians interested in performing to sign up for a slot. With three albums under her belt, Sygit tours regionally and continues to be a regular in the Lansing music scene.
Community members who don’t wish to perform are still encouraged to come downtown and enjoy the talents of those who get up on the stage.
The 3rd Wednesday Open Mic series is sponsored by the East Lansing Downtown Management Board. In the event of rain or inclement weather, the open mic nights will be canceled. For more information, please call (517) 319-6888.
