EAST LANSING, Mich. — An officer with the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) made a traffic stop for erratic driving at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9.
It was discovered that the driver, Cedric Darvell Jackson of Lansing, was operating the vehicle while intoxicated with four young children as passengers, including an eight-year-old, a four-year-old and two two-year-olds. The mother of three of the four children was also in the vehicle and two of the children were not properly restrained at the time of the stop.
Jackson was arraigned on Wednesday, March 9 in the East Lansing 54B District Court on four counts of operating while intoxicated with an occupant less than 16 and one count operating while license is suspended, revoked, denied.
ELPD is also seeking charges – fourth degree child abuse – against the mother of the three children.
ELPD has notified the Michigan Department of Human Services about the incident.
