EAST LANSING, Mich. — City of East Lansing offices will be closing early today, March 1 at 3 p.m. due to the winter weather and deteriorating road conditions. The early closure will allow City employees to travel home safely.
City offices that will close early at 3 p.m. include East Lansing City Hall, the East Lansing Department of Public Works (DPW), the East Lansing 54B District Court, the East Lansing Public Library and East Lansing Prime Time. The East Lansing Hannah Community Center will be closing at 5 p.m.
In addition to the early closures, tonight’s East Lansing City Council meeting has been canceled.
Community members are encouraged to exercise extreme caution when driving and avoid travel if possible. The continuous snowfall has deteriorated road conditions significantly.
DPW crews will continue to work through the night and into tomorrow to keep East Lansing’s roads passable. Currently, the crews are continuing to focus on major streets, with the goal of moving to local streets overnight. Community members are encouraged to abide by the City’s overnight parking restrictions on local streets to help in expediting the snow removal process.
