EAST LANSING, Mich. – The East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) would like to provide an update on a December 15, 2015 reported sexual assault.
On that date, a sexual assault was reported in the 1100 block of Michigan Avenue in East Lansing. Two days after the report was filed, ELPD received a tip regarding two men that were possibly involved in the case. The following day, ELPD had one subject in custody on unrelated charges and three days later the other subject was also arrested on unrelated charges.
Both men were interviewed about their involvement with the case and various evidence was seized, including the vehicle involved – a blue GMC Yukon. It was originally reported that three men were involved; however, the investigation revealed only two men. It was also originally reported that the vehicle involved was a red van.
Following ELPD’s investigation, the case was turned over to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office. On Jan. 21, the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office notified ELPD of its decision not to prosecute the case. Any questions regarding the decision not to prosecute should be referred to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office.
