[ARCHIVED] ELPD, Assisting Agencies Disperse Large Crowd after Big Ten Championship Game

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Immediately following the Michigan State Spartans Big Ten Championship victory on Saturday, Dec. 5, a crowd of approximately 2,000 people gathered in the 1000 block of Waters Edge Drive.

The crowd was dispersed prior to 2 a.m. due to dangerous activities, including starting fires and throwing objects at each other and police.

Eight people were arrested and 13 fires were reported with no significant property damage or injuries sustained.

The City returned to normal activity at approximately 2:20 a.m.

The East Lansing Police Department was assisted by the following agencies:

Michigan State University Police
Ingham County Sheriff's Office
Michigan State Police
Lansing Police Department
