EAST LANSING, Mich. — All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre (AECT) will be hosting its 2nd Annual Young Playwright’s Festival and is currently accepting script submissions from area youth, ages 11-18, for consideration for the festival.
The 2nd Annual Young Playwright’s Festival is supported by the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) and the Arts Council of Greater Lansing, Inc. AECT has received a $2,800 MCACA minigrant for the festival.
The deadline for script submissions is January 4, 2016. The guidelines for submissions are as follows:
• 3-6 characters (including non-speaking roles)
• 10-45 pages• Original work
• No special effects (i.e. fire, smoke/fog, flying, combat)• Suitable for all ages
• Standard script format, including page numbers• Cover page with writer’s name, email address and phone number (writer’s name should not appear anywhere else on the script)

Everyone involved learned a lot last year,” said AECT Artistic Director Sarah Willis. “We are so grateful to MCACA and the Arts Council for having the faith to invest in this facet of our programming two years in a row, making it possible for our youth to create something together from the ground up.”
