EAST LANSING, Mich. — Dave Dekorte, an officer with the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD), was honored with the Outstanding Service Award at the 2015 Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Life Savers Awards Luncheon this past Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Officer Dekorte received the Outstanding Service Award in recognition of his drunk driving enforcement efforts in 2014. Officer Dekorte made 39 arrests in 2014 for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI). He also had a 100 percent conviction rate.
Officer Dekorte is currently the longest-serving officer at ELPD. He continues to work the midnight shift because arresting drunk drivers and traffic safety are two of his main priorities while on patrol.
Officer Dekorte is retiring in November of 2015 after 32 years of distinguished and honorable service to the City of East Lansing.
