Community Photo Contest Winners Announced, Will be Featured in Public Art Gallery Exhibit

The City of East Lansing is pleased to announce the winners of the 2023 East Lansing Community Photo Contest. 

First Place was won by Amanda Shaffer for her photo “Valley Court Stairs.” Nick Aseritis won second place with his photo “Spartan Statue.” Third place was won by William Rowan for his photo “Rainbow.” The winner of the downtown category was Yuan Xiong with “Through the Window on a Rainy Night.”

The contest also awarded 10 Honorable Mentions: Stacy Anderson, Abby Bhatt, Tessa Bialek, Alexander Gerhard, Danna Gutierrez Lanza, Greco Nogueira, Henry Severin, Breezy Silver, Regina Stout and Cameron Warren. 

New this year, the winning photos will be featured in a special exhibit in the Public Art Gallery at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road. The exhibit will run through December with a special opening to be held on Sunday, Dec. 3 from 1-2 p.m. All community members are invited to attend. Admission to the Public Art Gallery is free.

The winning photos will be printed in the City of East Lansing’s annual report and 2024 calendar. The photos are viewable via the City’s website photo gallery at: https://cityofeastlansing.com/gallery.aspx?PID=341 as well as on the City’s social media accounts.
