Community members are advised that Albert EL Fresco will close for the season on Monday, Aug. 28 and the street will then reopen to traffic.
Albert EL Fresco is the pedestrian-friendly area located along Albert Avenue between Abbot Road and M.A.C. Avenue in downtown East Lansing. It operates each year from May through August to offer an outdoor venue for downtown businesses and City-sponsored events.
Community members are encouraged to enjoy Albert EL Fresco for the last time this weekend. Tonight (Friday, Aug. 25) Risky Studios will perform at nearby Ann Street Plaza to close out the Summer Concert Series. Tomorrow (Saturday, Aug. 26) the City will host “Moonlight ExtravaGRANDza: A Night to Eat, Shop and Explore Downtown East Lansing” with more live music and games such as inflatable jousting at Albert EL Fresco. Learn more about all the activities planned for Moonlight ExtravaGRANDza here.
The East Lansing Police Department reminds community members and visitors to the City that open alcohol is not permitted in Albert EL Fresco, just as it is prohibited elsewhere in the City of East Lansing. Visitors to Albert EL Fresco can, however, enjoy alcoholic drinks at approved outdoor dining areas operated by adjacent restaurants.
“We have had so much fun this summer! From game nights with live music every Thursday night to free community yoga classes on Saturday and Sunday mornings as well as events like GLAM Jam, PRIDE and the Summer Solstice Jazz Festival,” said Community and Economic Development Specialist Matt Apostle. “Thank you to everyone who has come down and enjoyed what Albert EL Fresco has to offer. We hope to do it again next year!”
