City Announces Updates for Utility Improvements Construction Project in Bailey Neighborhood

Construction workers pose at the intersection of Collingwood Drive and Grand River Avenue

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing is pleased to announce that a portion of the Utility Improvements Construction Project has either been completed or is nearing completion.

The final paving on Collingwood Drive from Grand River Avenue to Butterfield Drive was completed last week. The roadway is expected to reopen to traffic on Aug. 17.

The segment of Collingwood Drive from Butterfield Drive to Beech Street has ongoing water main, sidewalk and restoration work still. Snyder Road from Beech Street to Burcham Drive is substantially completed. Final paving of both sections is expected in October.

On the east side of the Bailey neighborhood, the construction work at Division Street and Sunrise Court has been completed and those streets have reopened to traffic.

On the opposite side of the Bailey neighborhood, underground utility work commenced this week on Kedzie Street from Snyder Road to Collingwood Drive, Gunson Street and Burcham Drive. Overall that project is on schedule and is expected to wrap up in November.

The Neighborhood Improvements Utility Project began in March and includes replacement of water mains, sewer lines, curbs and gutters, driveways and sidewalks as well as surface milling and paving. View the updated map here.
