EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing’s Parks, Recreation and Arts Department is excited to present the 2023 Summer Event Lineup, which includes the Summer Concert Series, Moonlight Film Festival and Play in the Park. All events are free to attend.
The Summer Concert Series kicks off the fun this Friday, July 7 with a live performance by Cross Eyed Strangers from 6-8 p.m. in downtown East Lansing’s Ann Street Plaza, located at the corner of Albert and M.A.C. avenues.
Community members are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket to Ann Street Plaza. Alternatively, several restaurants are located adjacent to Ann Street Plaza and offer outdoor seating.
The lineup for the rest of the Summer Concert Series includes the following talented local performers:
- July 14 – Taylor Taylor
- July 21 – Twelve Above
- NO CONCERT July 28
- Aug. 4 – Monte Pride
- Aug. 11 – Alex Mendenall
- Aug. 18 – Clipboards
- Aug. 25 – Risky Studios

Every other Thursday night in July and August, the City will host the Moonlight Film Festival in Valley Court Park, 280 Valley Court. Movies begin at dusk (approximately 9:30 p.m. in July and 9 p.m. in August). Community members are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy the show.
The schedule for the Moonlight Film Festival is as follows:
- July 13 – Family Night – “Shrek”
- July 27 – Teen Night – “Spider-Man: No Way Home”
- Aug. 10 – Classics Night – “Jumanji”
- Aug. 24 – Sports Night – “Remember the Titans”
Play in the Park, an interactive entertainment series for children, will be held on select Tuesdays in July and August from 7-7:45 p.m. at Valley Court Park. The first event will be held on July 18 and features the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum. On Aug. 1, WKAR’s Curious Crew will investigate principles of science, technology engineering and math (STEM). On Tuesday, Aug. 15, the Amazing Clark, a magician and puppeteer, will perform a show. For more information about the series, visit www.cityofeastlansing.com/playinthepark.
