EAST LANSING, Mich. — The Fire Prevention Bureau of the East Lansing Fire Department (ELFD) has lifted the ban on outdoor burning in the City of East Lansing, effective as of today.
The rain that was received this week has improved fire conditions in the area. Now that the ban has been lifted, community members are reminded that outdoor burning rules apply and inspections for outdoor burn permit applications will now resume. View the fire permit rules and access the application here. For questions, call the ELFD at (517) 332-1956.
Additionally, community members are advised that the Air Quality Index is presently in the very unhealthy to hazardous range due to smoke from Canadian wildfires. Community members are encouraged to stay indoors with doors and windows closed; keep activity levels low; avoid outdoor activities; and use N95-style masks when being outside is unavoidable.
