City of East Lansing Closures, Fireworks Rules for Juneteenth Holiday on Monday, June 19

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Community members are advised that City of East Lansing offices will be closed on Monday, June 19 for Juneteenth. 

This includes East Lansing City Hall, East Lansing 54B District Court, the East Lansing Department of Public Works, the East Lansing Public Library (ELPL) and East Lansing Prime Time.

The East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC), 819 Abbot Road, will be open on Monday, June 19 during its regular hours. However, community members are advised that the ELHCC will be closed on Sundays in July and August.

The ELPL, which will be closed for Juneteenth, is also closed on Sundays from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Community members who plan to attend the Juneteenth All Community March and Celebration at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 18 are encouraged to park at the ELPL, 950 Abbot Road. The March will leave from ELHCC and ends at the East Lansing Farmers Market in Valley Court Park. 

There will be no yard waste or bulk item collection on Monday, June 19. The next yard waste and bulk item collection day will be the following Monday, June 26. 

Consumer fireworks are permitted on personal property for Juneteenth from 11 a.m.-11:45 p.m. Visit www.cityofeastlansing.com/fireworks for important safety tips from the East Lansing Fire Department.
