EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Human Rights Commission (HRC) will host its next Coffee & Conversation session on Sunday, April 30.
The HRC Coffee & Conversation series serves as a forum for community discussions on topics of diversity and inclusion. The topic for the next session will be “The Iranian Woman: Life, Freedom Movement and East Lansing Allyship.”
“Iranian women are leading an unprecedented worldwide movement to end gender apartheid, oppression and discrimination in Iran. These human rights protests have affected many Iranians in our local community and across the world. It’s important to hold community dialogues to discuss ways to express solidarity and allyship with the Iranian community and learn how to be a voice for those who are being silenced in their fight for human rights in Iran and across the Middle East,” says East Lansing resident Yasi Zamani-Hank, a member of the local Iranian American community and Assistant Professor at MSU.
The April 30 Coffee & Conversation session will be held from 1-3 p.m. at PappaRoti, 1000 Trowbridge Road, East Lansing. All community members are invited and welcome to attend.
Additional Coffee and Conversation sessions will be announced as they become available at www.cityofeastlansing.com.
Monday - Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
