All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre to Present Musical “School of Rock”

School of Rock 2

EAST LANSING, Mich. — All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre (AECT) is pleased to present the musical, “School of Rock,” this spring.

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 28 and Friday, May 5, as well as at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, April 29 and 30 and May 6 and 7. The performances will be held in the Albert A. White Performing Arts Theater at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center (ELHCC), 819 Abbot Road.

“School of Rock” follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There, he turns a class of straight–A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out?

“School of Rock” is based on the Paramount movie by Mike White and book by Julian Fellowes, with lyrics by Glenn Slater and new music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Over 80 community members from the mid-Michigan area are participating on the cast and crews of this production, including both youth and adults. “School of Rock” features adult actors in the adult roles. The adults are people that have worked with AECT in some capacity before, such as alumni, volunteers and parents.

Tickets for “School of Rock” are $8 for youth (17 and under) and $12 for adults (18 and older). Community members can purchase tickets by calling (517) 333-2580 ext. 0 or going online to Tickets can also be purchased in person at ELHCC, 819 Abbot Road.

This production is generously sponsored by Jackson, the Michigan Arts and Culture Council, the Arts Council of Greater Lansing and the National Endowment for the Arts.

All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre (AECT) offers young people of all backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles the opportunity to produce professional quality plays, study many aspects of the dramatic arts and develop valuable life skills while providing outstanding entertainment to the community. AECT brings four major productions to the Greater Lansing community each year with the help of hundreds of youth from throughout the region.
