East Lansing 54-B District Court to Host Law Day Celebration on May 1

EAST LANSING, Mich. —Community members are invited to celebrate Law Day on Monday, May 1 from 3-4:30 p.m. in Courtroom 2 of 54-B District Court (54-B), 101 Linden Street.

The 2023 Law Day theme is “Cornerstones of Democracy: Civics, Civility and Collaboration.” The 54-B Law Day event will include a meet and greet, panel discussion, Q&A session and closing remarks. Refreshments will be served.

Law Day panelists include 54-B Chief Judge Molly Greenwalt Hennessey, 54-B Judge Pro Tem Lisa Babcock, East Lansing City Attorney Anthony Chubb, East Lansing Court Prosecutor Robert Easterly, Ingham County Assistant Prosecutor Randall Behrmann, Ingham County Assistant Public Defender Jonathan Forman and 54-B Chief Probation Officer Maria Taylor. The panel will be moderated by 54-B Administrator Nicole Evans.

Panelists will introduce their role in the justice system, discuss rebuilding trust in legal institutions and how the branches of government can collaborate to address challenges facing the community and the country. The panelists will welcome questions and comments from event attendees.
