EAST LANSING, Mich. — Community members are invited to attend the East Lansing Public Library’s (ELPL) annual Books, Bites and Bids fundraiser on Friday, April 28 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the ELPL, 950 Abbot Road.
This year’s Books, Bites & Bids is extra special because it is the first time that the popular event has been held in person since 2019 and the ELPL is celebrating its 100th anniversary all year.
Books, Bites and Bids attendees can look forward to enjoying delicious food including giant pies from Grand Traverse Pie Company, live music, incredible auction items, beer and wine and time to connect with library staff and other community members. Tickets are $35 per individual or $70 per couple/family. Tickets can be purchased via cash or check at the ELPL service desk or online at https://www.elpl.org/blogs/post/books-bites-bids-2023/
The ELPL is also still accepting donations of items for auction baskets. To make a donation, contact Phyllis Thode at firstname.lastname@example.org.
“I am thrilled that Books, Bites and Bids is back in person for the first time since 2019,” said East Lansing Public Library Director Kristin Shelley. “We have truly missed hosting these festivities, and I am excited to have the community celebrating in the library and raising money for library programs, resources and services.”
Books, Bites and Bids is celebrated every year during National Library Week. This year’s theme is “There’s more to the story.” Libraries are not only incredible places to house books and stories of every kind, but they're also so much more: ELPL has a Library of Things, a Maker Studio and exceptional programming for all ages. Libraries like ELPL provide critical internet and technology access and connect people to online resources. Libraries are a place to share stories as well as knowledge, innovation, creativity and human connection. Best of all, libraries do it all for free!
Every year, Books, Bites & Bids helps ensure that ELPL can continue to provide excellent programs and services to the community at no charge. Monies raised from Books, Bites & Bids will go toward the educational, interactive children's garden, which begins construction later this year.
ELPL will close at noon on Friday, April 28 to prepare for Books, Bites & Bids. For more information, visit www.elpl.org.
