[ARCHIVED] DDA Partners with MSU Broad Art Museum to Bring New Art Exhibition to Downtown East Lansing

Art panel being inserted into frame in downtown East Lansing

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is pleased to, once again, partner with the Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University (MSU Broad Art Museum) to bring new art to downtown East Lansing for the community to enjoy.

Beginning last week and running for the next three months, the DDA is exhibiting prints of artwork selected by curators at the MSU Broad Art Museum, 547 E. Circle Drive, in the display panels installed along Albert Avenue on the north side of the Division Street Garage. The pieces chosen for this special exhibit are part of the Broad’s permanent collection. To see images of the artwork and learn more about the pieces, visit

“We are happy to partner with the MSU Broad Art Museum and display prints from their collection again, bringing color and vibrancy to our downtown.” East Lansing Placemaking and Arts Programming Specialist Wendy Sylvester-Rowan said.

The four double-sided, 4’x6’ artwork display panels adjacent to the Division Street Garage were installed by the DDA in 2021 for the purposes of displaying rotating art exhibits in an open-air public space in the downtown. Community members are encouraged to engage with the art in this outdoor public space. In addition to past exhibitions hosted in collaboration with the MSU Broad Art Museum, previous exhibits have also included art from local artists as well as art by high school AP art students. Artwork featured in the panels is later relocated to other parts of downtown East Lansing when a new exhibit is installed, adding to the vibrancy throughout the downtown.

“We're so excited to be able to collaborate with downtown East Lansing on this public art project again. It's always nice to get a bit of the museum out and into the community. As we look ahead to a new, collection-focused space that's coming soon to the MSU Broad Art Museum, we're thinking a lot about the diversity within our collection of over 10,000 works. The selections featured in downtown East Lansing include some of the museum's newest acquisitions, specifically from two of the museum's most recent exhibitions—Blind Spot: Stephanie Syjuco and Zaha Hadid Design: Untold,” MSU Broad Art Museum Communications Director Zoe Kissel said.
