EAST LANSING, Mich. — East Lansing 54B District Court Chief Judge Richard D. Ball has announced that the East Lansing 54B District Court has reached the final stages of its MiFILE implementation. Court staff have been hard at work training and developing critical integrations to support e-filing, and as a result, the 54B District Court is now officially accept e-filings as of November 17, 2022.
Now that the 54B District Court is live with MiFILE, attorneys are required to e-file per Michigan Court Rule 1.109(G)(3)(f). Self-represented parties may participate in the e-filing program, but will not be required to do so. The filing community can view this list of courts that use MiFILE to see if they are required to e-file their documents in that court. Those that are required to e-file can request an exemption.
Filers can learn more about MiFILE on the Michigan Courts’ Filer Information webpage, or read the MiFILE Quick Reference Guide. In addition, there are video tutorials to help filers familiarize themselves with the e-filing process available online on the MiFILE YouTube Channel. ImageSoft, a contractor working with the State Court Administrative Office to build MiFILE, also hosts training webinars for the filing community.
During this transition period from paper filings to e-filings, the MiFILE support team stands at the ready and prepared to work with the filing community to make this process as seamless as possible. Those that encounter any difficulties may contact the MiFILE support desk at mifilesupport@courts.mi.gov.
