EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) has partnered with local faith leaders to host an American Red Cross community blood drive during National Faith & Blue Weekend.

Community members are invited to donate blood during this special community event, which will be taking place on Friday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Martin Luther Chapel, 444 Abbot Road in East Lansing. Community members can sign up to give blood and schedule their donation time at https://rcblood.org/3RqEqmX. Free parking will be available to those donating blood at the church and in the north parking lot of East Lansing City Hall, 410 Abbot Road.

In addition to participating in the blood drive, community members are invited to engage with local law enforcement officers and local faith leaders in the north parking lot of City Hall during the event, where there will be food trucks and games set up for the community to enjoy.

“We invite all community members to come out and engage with our local law enforcement officers and faith leaders during this special event,” said East Lansing Police Chief Kim Johnson. “We are so appreciative of the many local faith leaders here in our community who have collaborated with us to make this event possible.”

Hosts of this special event include Martin Luther Chapel, St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Congregation Shaarey Zedek, The Peoples Church of East Lansing, Ascension Lutheran Church, Element Church, Capital City Vineyard Church, the Greater Lansing Church of Christ and ELPD.

National Faith & Blue Weekend facilitates safer and stronger communities by engaging law enforcement officers and local residents through the connections of faith-based organizations. Community members can learn more about National Faith & Blue Weekend at https://faithandblue.org/.
