EAST LANSING, Mich. — Community members are advised that the East Lansing City Clerk’s Office will be offering voter registration services at the East Lansing Public Library (ELPL), 950 Abbot Road, and MSU Library, 366 W. Circle Drive, next Tuesday, Sept. 20 during National Voter Registration Day.

Staff with the East Lansing City Clerk's Office will be on hand at ELPL from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and outside of the MSU Library from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. to assist community members with registering to vote or updating their voter registration status. City Clerk staff will also be available to answer any questions community members may have about voting in the upcoming November 8, 2022 State General Election.

Those who can't make it to ELPL or the MSU Library on National Voter Registration Day can also register to vote online and/or check on their voter registration status at www.mi.gov/vote. Voters are reminded that they can register to vote or update their voter registration online through Oct. 24. After that date, it must be done in person at the City Clerk's office, 410 Abbot Road.

“Voting is an important action to take as a member of your community, as your vote represents your voice. It is necessary to verify your voter registration information, make a plan for how you will vote and act on that plan to ensure your voice has a role in your community,” said East Lansing City Clerk Jennifer Shuster. “The East Lansing City Clerk’s Office is happy to assist you and make sure you feel confident with your registration and voting process.”

National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday celebrating democracy. First observed in 2012, it has quickly gained momentum ever since, with almost 4.7 million voters registered to vote on the holiday to date. At its Sept. 6 meeting, the East Lansing City Council approved its annual resolution recognizing Voter Registration Day in East Lansing.

The East Lansing City Clerk's office is available to answer any questions voters may have leading up to and on Election Day. Voters can contact the East Lansing City Clerk's office at cityclerk@cityofeastlansing.com or (517) 319-6914. For additional East Lansing election information, voters can visit www.cityofeastlansing.com/elections.
