pbweb

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Downtown Management Board (DMB) is pleased to welcome Playa Bowls™ to downtown East Lansing.

This new downtown East Lansing business, located at 225 E. Grand River Ave., uses fresh, high-quality ingredients to serve up healthy, delicious açaí, pitaya and coconut bowls and smoothies as well as a variety of other fruit and oatmeal bowls, vegan granola, fresh juices and more. This new, local business is part of a chain of Playa Bowls™ franchises located throughout the country, with the original location opening in New Jersey in 2014.

“When I moved to Michigan from New Jersey, I felt there was a huge opportunity in East Lansing for a fruit bowl shop and I’m excited to bring the unique flavors of açaí and pitaya to the East Lansing community,” said Diana Spencer, owner of the new Playa Bowls™ franchise in East Lansing. “We are here to serve those who are looking for a healthy yet tasty meal or treat and are looking to escape to a summertime paradise.”

Playa Bowls™ will be celebrating its grand opening this Saturday, June 18 at 11 a.m. at its new downtown East Lansing location. Grand opening festivities will include a free bowl and t-shirt giveaway to the first 50 customers and a DJ. Summer specials will also be offered, including a glow bowl, a mango pina colada smoothie, coconut protein bites and coconut cold brew coffee.

Hours for the new Playa Bowls™ location in East Lansing will be Monday-Sunday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Community members can learn more about Playa Bowls™ at https://www.playabowls.com/ and can follow the new, local business on Facebook and Instagram at https://www.facebook.com/playabowlsmichiganstate and https://www.instagram.com/playabowlsmichiganstate.

About Playa Bowls™: Founded by surfers Abby Taylor & Rob Giuliani, Playa Bowls was born out of the desire to recreate the delicious, refreshing, healthy versions of acai and pitaya bowls the pair encountered on various surf trips to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, California and Hawaii. At each beach, they discovered new and unique twists on this popular post-surf treat and came home wanting more. The pair set up a blender and a folding table on the boardwalk in their hometown of Belmar, and Playa Bowls was born. Eight years, and millions of bowls later, Playa Bowls continues to offer superfruit bowls with a mission to lead communities in healthy, sustainable living.
