EAST LANSING, Mich. — Community members are advised that the East Lansing Public Library (ELPL), 950 Abbot Road, will be operating as a cooling center this week in response to the forecasted heat over the coming days.
Community members in need of a place to cool down during the day are welcome to visit the ELPL during its regular hours: Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
A heat advisory from the National Weather Service is currently in effect from noon on Tuesday, June 14 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15 for portions of south central and southwest Michigan, with heat index values up to 103 expected. With that in mind, community members are encouraged to stay cool, hydrated and informed.
