prforweb

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the completion of an improvement project at Patriarche Park on Monday, May 23 at 11 a.m. Patriarche Park is located at 960 Alton Road.

The Patriarche Park project was funded by a $300,000 Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) as well as dollars allocated from the City’s Income Tax Fund.

The improvements included the renovation of the park’s pavilion, including installing new lighting and cabinetry as well as a new roof and siding. Improvements and renovations were also made to the restrooms adjacent to the pavilion and on the south side of the park. These renovations included remodeling the interior of both restrooms and converting the men’s and women’s restrooms on the south side into four universal restrooms. New roofs and a water fountain were also installed as part of the restroom renovations.

The project also included several environmental sustainability improvements, including installing low-flow plumbing fixtures, energy-efficient electrical features, a solar array adjacent to the restrooms on the south side that meet the electrical needs of the facility and a rainwater catchment system at the pavilion.

Speakers at the ribbon-cutting event will include East Lansing Mayor Ron Bacon, East Lansing Parks, Recreation and Arts Director Cathy DeShambo, East Lansing Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission Chair Adam DeLay and a representative from the MDNR.

Community members and media are welcome to attend.
