[ARCHIVED] East Glencairn Neighborhood Improvements Project to Resume Next Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Community members are advised that the East Glencairn Neighborhood Improvements Project will resume the week of March 28, 2022 in East Lansing.

The project is continuing from 2021 and includes utility upgrades (water main replacement and combined sewer replacement) as well as road improvement work in the neighborhood. Crews are in the area this week marking utilities, with plans to begin water main replacement next week along Northlawn Avenue, beginning at Harrison Road and progressing east towards Rosewood Avenue. To accommodate this work, the intersection of Harrison Road and Northlawn Avenue will be closed March 28, with plans to have the intersection re-opened by April 2. Detours will be in place for Harrison Road traffic.

The remaining anticipated schedule for the East Glencairn Neighborhood Improvements Project, which is subject to change due to weather, is as follows:

  • Middle of April – Begin sewer replacement along Northlawn Avenue. Work will begin at Rosewood Avenue and progress to Harrison Road.
  • Middle of May – Replace water main along Northlawn Avenue, between Roxburgh Avenue and Rosewood Avenue.
  • Middle of June – Begin road-building process along Northlawn Avenue, between Harrison Road and Rosewood Avenue. Mill Glenhaven Avenue, Roxburgh Avenue and Rosewood Avenue, between Northlawn Avenue and Saginaw Street.
  • July – Pave streets and restore and clean up the construction area.

During the construction, local traffic will be maintained at all times.

Weekly emails will be sent out to provide updates on construction. Residents of the neighborhood can sign up to receive those updates by sending an email to nmcpher@cityofeastlansing.com. Residents can also find project updates at www.cityofeastlansing.com/construction. Community members with questions about the project can call the East Lansing Department of Public Works at (517) 337-9459.
