EAST LANSING, Mich. – The East Lansing Public Library (ELPL), 950 Abbot Road, will host a special kick-off event for its 2015 Summer Reading Program on Wednesday, June 8 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The event is free and open to all.
The fun will begin at 11 a.m. with a special visit from Eric Litwin - the # 1 New York Times Bestselling author of the first four “Pete the Cat” picture books and the author of the new musical series “The Nuts.” Litwin is a guitar-strumming, book-writing, harmonica-blowing, song-singing, folksy, fun type of guy. His books have sold over 1.5 million copies, been translated into seven languages and won 15 state and national awards including a Theodor Geisel Seuss Honor Award.
In addition to Litwin’s visit, there will be crafts and activities throughout the day and superhero guests, Batman and Iron Man, at 1:30 p.m. There will also be opportunities to sign up for ELPL’s 2015 Summer Reading Program at the event.

This year’s theme is “Every Hero Has a Story” and the program will run from June 8-July 31. The program is open to all ages, including children, teens and adults.
