[ARCHIVED] East Lansing City Clerk’s Satellite Office Now Open at Brody Hall

EAST LANSING, Mich. — In an effort to better serve voters leading up to the November 2, 2021 General Election, the East Lansing City Clerk’s office has opened a satellite office at Brody Hall, 241 Brody Service Road, on the Michigan State University campus.

“I am excited to continue expanding the availability of early voting services for students,” said East Lansing City Clerk Jennifer Shuster. “This campus pilot initiative will ensure students, who are East Lansing residents, have convenient opportunities to register to vote, obtain an absentee ballot and return their ballot. The satellite office is also a resource for questions about the voting process for all.”

Beginning Monday, Oct. 4, regular hours at the satellite location will be:

  • Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

The City Clerk’s main office also remains available to voters at East Lansing City Hall, 410 Abbot Road, with the following regular hours:

  • Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

In addition to regular hours, extended hours and Election Day hours will be offered at both locations:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 26; 5-8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 27; 5-8 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 31; 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 2 (Election Day); 7 a.m.-8 p.m. (while polls are open)

At both office locations, East Lansing voters can register to vote, vote early and turn in voted ballots. Voters can also visit www.mi.gov/vote to register to vote and check/update their voter registration status (through Oct. 18) and apply for an absentee voter (AV) ballot online.

"It is important to register or check your voter registration by Oct. 18 at www.mi.gov/vote. After this date, all voter registration and updates to information must be done in person at the City Clerk’s office locations with proof of residency,” said Clerk Shuster.

In addition to returning voted AV ballots either by mail (allowing at least two weeks for delivery is encouraged) or in person at one of the City Clerk’s office locations, East Lansing voters can also drop off their voted AV ballots at ballot drop box locations in the community. There are now four ballot drop box locations in East Lansing:

  • East Lansing City Hall (north parking lot), 410 Abbot Road
  • East Lansing Public Library, 950 Abbot Road
  • East Lansing Department of Public Works, 1800 E. State Road
  • MSU-CATA Transportation Center, 592 N. Shaw Lane

The drop boxes are secured and checked daily by City Clerk’s office staff.

Community members with questions about the upcoming election can contact the City Clerk’s office at (517) 319-6914. Additional election information is available at www.cityofeastlansing.com/elections.
