EAST LANSING, Mich. — The City of East Lansing has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2020.
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
“Having now achieved this award for 37 consecutive years, it’s clear that the City of East Lansing is committed to responsible and transparent financial management and reporting,” said East Lansing City Manager George Lahanas. “Under the leadership of Finance Director Jill Feldpausch, our finance team worked incredibly hard once again last year to produce a report worthy of this honor and we are grateful for the recognition.”
The GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
