EAST LANSING, Mich. – A number of road construction projects are slated to begin this spring/summer in East Lansing.
A major street project will take place on Bogue Street, from Grand River Avenue to Shaw Lane, from approximately May 11-June 12. The road will be completely closed to traffic for the project duration with a posted detour.
Upon completing Bogue Street, the contractor will move to Abbot Road, between Burcham Drive and Saginaw Street. This major street project is scheduled to take place from approximately June 16-Aug. 14, with scheduled night work (8 p.m.-6 a.m.) in an attempt to minimize the impact on day traffic. Traffic will be maintained to the extent possible outside of scheduled construction hours. A complete closure will take place for one week in the latter part of the project, between Whitehills Drive and Saginaw Street, for the replacement of an entire cross section. The exact dates are to be determined. There will be a posted detour during all construction activities.
In addition to major street projects, Community Development Block Grant funds will be used for sidewalk ramp improvements on Grove Street, from Burcham Drive to Linden Street, from early June to mid August. During the same time frame, a wearing course of asphalt pavement will be placed on Virginia Avenue, between Burcham Drive and Snyder Road.
