[ARCHIVED] East Lansing DDA to Host Second Community Art Exhibit in Downtown East Lansing Businesses

EAST LANSING, Mich. — As part of the “Daytime. Nighttime. Anytime. Place Project,” the East Lansing Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will host its second community art exhibit at participating downtown East Lansing businesses beginning Monday, March 1.

This is the second of three art exhibits being hosted by the DDA as a part of its ongoing effort to support local businesses and unify the community during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The second art exhibit will feature pieces by students from Pinecrest Elementary School, Donley Elementary School, Red Cedar Elementary School, Marble Elementary School, Whitehills Elementary School, Glencairn Elementary School, St. Thomas Aquinas Parish School and Stepping Stones Montessori.

"We are honored that our business leaders have given our young artists the opportunity to show their work this year,” said East Lansing Public School Teacher Jacqueline Carroll. “We can only hope that the larger community will see these acts of kindness and do their best to reciprocate the good-nature by patronizing our downtown businesses."

This exhibit will be displayed for six weeks, from March 1 - April 16, at 19 participating businesses and will be displayed in the M.A.C. Avenue Garage, 310 M.A.C. Ave, from April 19 – June 4. Community members can view a digital map of where the art pieces will be displayed by using the Explore Downtown East Lansing web app.

The art exhibits were made possible by the DDA’s partnership with East Lansing art teachers, the East Lansing Downtown Management Board and the East Lansing Arts Commission.
