EAST LANSING, Mich. — East Lansing property owners are reminded that winter property taxes are due on Tuesday, Feb. 16. While East Lansing City Hall remains closed to the public for in-person transactions until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are still several easy ways to make property tax payments:
- Credit card and e-check payments can be made online by visiting www.cityofeastlansing.com/paymentoptions. Property owners can also view their property information, including bills and payments, at https://www.cityofeastlansing.com/277/Treasury.
- A new blue payment drop box has been installed in the north parking lot of East Lansing City Hall, 410 Abbot Road, for property tax payments, water bills, income tax payments, building and housing items and miscellaneous invoice payments. The box is secure and checked daily. Community members are asked to continue using the yellow drop boxes for all court-related items.
- Payments can continue to be mailed to East Lansing Treasury: 410 Abbot Road East Lansing, MI 48823
A three percent penalty applies for property taxes that are not paid by Feb. 16 and all unpaid real property taxes are sent to Ingham and Clinton counties on March 1, at which time additional penalties do apply. Community members with questions can call (517) 319-6860 during regular business hours: Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
