[ARCHIVED] Second Round of Bonus Gift Cards Now Available for Early Buyers of Downtown East Lansing eGift Cards

UPDATE 12/23/20: The second round of the buy one, get one promotion for Downtown East Lansing egift cards has sold out, but you can still buy gift cards: https://app.yiftee.com/gift-card/east-lansing.

ORIGINAL RELEASE: EAST LANSING, Mich. — A second round of bonus gift cards is now available through the Downtown East Lansing eGift Card Program thanks to an allocation of $5,000 from the East Lansing Downtown Development Authority (DDA).

With these promotional funds, early buyers of the Downtown East Lansing gift cards will receive bonus gift cards at specific purchasing levels. Here’s how it works:

  • Purchase a $25 gift card or more, receive an additional $10 gift card.
  • Purchase a $50 gift card or more, receive an additional $20 gift card.
  • Purchase a $100 gift card or more, receive an additional $40 gift card.

This special promotion will be offered while supplies last and purchasers are limited to buying five gift cards to receive this promotion. The bonus gift cards will not immediately show up in a purchaser’s cart, but they will be emailed within 24 hours of the purchase.

The East Lansing Downtown Management Board (DMB) launched the Downtown East Lansing eGift Card Program on Friday, Dec. 11 in an effort to support local businesses during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

As a part of that launch, the DMB allocated $3,000 for the first round of bonus gift cards for early buyers and, within 29 hours, the promotion had sold out. To date, a total of $12,095 dollars in gift cards (including the bonus gift cards) have been purchased in support of downtown East Lansing businesses.

“We want to thank all of our early buyers for supporting our downtown businesses during this challenging time,” said East Lansing Community Development & Engagement Manager Amy Schlusler-Schmitt. “Our hope is that this second round of promotional funds from the DDA will help to keep the momentum going.”

More About the Program
The Downtown East Lansing eGift Card Program provides community members with a fun, easy way to give the gift of shopping and dining local this holiday season and beyond. To date, 29 downtown East Lansing restaurants, retailers and service providers have enrolled in this program and will be accepting the gift cards.

Community members can visit https://app.yiftee.com/gift-card/east-lansing to:

  • Learn more about the Downtown East Lansing eGift Card Program and how it works.
  • View a list of the participating businesses where the gift cards can be used.
  • Purchase and send gift cards with a personal message via email or text to family, friends, co-workers and/or other recipients.

While purchasing the gift cards is a great way to support local businesses, it’s important for buyers and recipients to note that direct business support will come from using these gift cards at participating businesses. The gift cards can be used in person or via phone orders, and many downtown businesses offer shipping, curbside pickup, take-out and delivery options. When visiting businesses in person, community members are reminded to wear a mask and keep a six-foot distance from others.
